Our client is a leading Chinese securities firm that has established a solid foundation and an esteemed reputation in Hong Kong and the PRC markets. They are looking for a Head of Legal to join their expanding team.
Responsibilities:
Provide regulatory and legal related advice and support to internal stakeholders
Act as key contact person for the company with other stakeholders, including local regulator(s) and internal teams on regulatory and compliance related matters, enquiries or updates
Ensure a smooth implementation of the company's legal practices in Hong Kong
Lead and support the company's line 2 responsibility legal program
Monitor any relevant legal and regulatory developments, initiatives or requirements, conduct gap analyses of existing policies and procedures and ensure timely implementation of any required enhancements or changes, including consultation on draft regulations with regulators, industry associations and peer organizations
Develop, document, and implement legal training programs on regulatory and compliance topics relevant to the company to enhance employee knowledge and understanding of legal risks, corresponding policies and procedures, relevant laws, regulations, and standards of good business
Support business stakeholders on company projects and initiatives, prepare ongoing reports for periodic regulatory updates to the company’s Board of Directors and Senior Management
Oversee, manage and support members of the company's legal team
Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the company’s Board of Directors and Senior Management
Requirements:
Must be a qualified lawyer in Hong Kong with at least 8+ years of solid legal and compliance experience in corporate finance, capital markets, securities trading and related sector
Knowledge of corporate financing, capital markets, M&A, derivative and structured financial products, financial and corporate/restructuring advisory, PE financing will be a major plus
Familiar with SFC Type 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 9 related business activities’ rules and regulations
Strong commercial judgement
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple stakeholder relationship
Ability to work in fast-paced environment
Working experience in dealing with regulators, successful track record in implementation of regulatory guidelines / requirements
Management of team members
Personal authority, strong integrity and ethics
Self-starter and strong team player
Fluent in spoken and written English and Chinese
